- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) light brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups (156g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (180g) chocolate chips
Instructions
- Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- Brownie Layer: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold in chocolate chips. Spread evenly in the pan.
- Cookie Layer: Cream together butter and both sugars until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add to wet ingredients. Fold in chocolate chips.
- Assemble: Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough over the brownie layer, gently pressing to create an even top layer.
- Bake: Bake for 25-30 minutes, until cookie top is golden and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool: Allow brookies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
