Description

These moist and fluffy cherry chocolate chip muffins combine juicy fresh cherries with rich chocolate chips in every bite. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon snack, these bakery-style muffins are surprisingly easy to make at home and ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and chopped
  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease with cooking spray.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Prepare wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, egg, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Combine mixtures: Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and gently fold together just until flour disappears. Don’t overmix.
  5. Add mix-ins: Gently fold in chopped cherries and chocolate chips.
  6. Fill and bake: Divide batter evenly among muffin cups (2/3 full). Bake at 425°F for 5 minutes, then reduce to 350°F and bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool: Let muffins cool in pan for 5 minutes before transferring to wire rack.

Notes

Pro Tips: Toss cherries with 1 tablespoon flour before adding to prevent sinking. Room temperature ingredients mix better for optimal texture.

Storage: Store in airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or freeze for up to 3 months.

Substitutions: Can use frozen cherries (thawed and drained) or dried cherries. For gluten-free, use 1:1 GF flour blend.
